Shepherd’s Pie

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C, fan oven 180°C, gas mark 6.

  2. Pierce the potatoes with a fork and bake in the oven for about 50 minutes, until soft.

  3. When cooked remove the potatoes carefully from the oven.

  4. Cut the potatoes in half and scoop out the potato into a bowl with a tablespoon.

  5. Add the milk and butter to the potatoes and mash well with a fork or potato masher. Season with salt and pepper.

  6. Place the Bolognese into an ovenproof dish.

  7. Spread the mashed potato on top.

  8. Sprinkle with cheese and cook in the oven for 15/20 minutes until brown and crispy on top.

  • 1 portion of Bolognese (see recipe)

  • 4 large Rooster potatoes

  • 2 tablespoons milk

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 1 mug grated cheddar cheese

  • Salt & pepper

The easiest way to make mashed potatoes is to bake the potatoes in the oven first, cut the cooked potato in half, scoop out the potato and mash.
