Chilli Con Carne

What you need

  • 1 portion of Bolognese (see recipe)

  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder

  • 1 tin of kidney beans

  • 1 mug of brown rice

    Equipment

  • Mug

  • Teaspoon

  • 2 Saucepans

Method

  1. Make the Bolognese in the saucepan and add the chilli powder.

  2. Drain kidney beans and add to the saucepan.

  3. Place the saucepan on the hob and heat through.

  4. Put 1 mug of rice in a second pot, then add 2 mugs of water to the saucepan.

  5. Bring the rice to the boil and simmer for about 15/20 minutes or until the rice is cooked.

  6. Serve the chilli in bowls or on plates with the rice.

Brown rice is more nutritious than white rice because it’s higher in fibre, magnesium and other nutrients.
