Beef or Lamb Burgers

What you need

  • 600g pack of beef or lamb mince

  • 1 onion

  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

  • ½ teaspoon cumin

  • ½ teaspoon chilli powder

  • 5 tablespoon vegetable oil

  • Burger buns, lettuce, tomato and cheese to serve

    Equipment

  • Large bowl

  • Small bowl

  • Mug

  • Plate

  • Frying pan

  • Knife

  • Spatula

  • Chopping board

Method

  1. Put the mince in a large bowl.

  2. Pour 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil into a mug and mix in the spices.

  3. Pour oil mix into the mince and mix well using your hands to make sure the spices are evenly mixed.

  4. Shape the mixture into 4 balls and pat down to form burgers.

  5. Put the burgers on a plate and put in the fridge for 30 minutes.

  6. Chop the onions. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a frying pan.

  7. Fry chopped onions until soft and slightly brown and put them into a small bowl.

  8. Put another tablespoon of oil onto the frying pan and fry the burgers until cooked on both sides. Tip: Cut 1 burger through the middle – if it is NOT pink it is cooked through.

  9. Put burgers on burger buns and garnish with onions, cheese, lettuce, tomato and serve with crispy potato wedges.
